At the Illustration Week, I responded to an impressive old bookcase, standing in the entrance to a crumbling space in the city’s south, with a large mural. My flattened interpretation was hung on the opposite wall, life size. A three-dimensional surge of wide open books erupted from the two-dimensional painting, as thousands of pages detached themselves from their covers and scattered throughout the building’s floors, desecrating the “holy ark.”
